2003 Meathead ConventionOur first Meathead Convention of 2003 was held Thursday, February 6th, at Club Patricks in Omaha, Nebraska. In attendance: Jim & Jo Not sure exactly how to start these, other than to thank Jo Ann for helping to take notes – almost seemed like old times, except…… different. Talk about Bull – how about that Prime Rib?? Wow – Steve & Roger had the largest Prime Ribs I think I’ve ever seen! Jo’s wasn’t too bad either – prompting us to crown her “Queen of the Meatheads” as she was the only one to uphold the infamous claim that Meatheads always finish his or her Prime Rib – congratulations, Jo – that honor will look great on your resume! Meatheads are not vegetarians – in fact, we can safely say that A Meathead is full of it …..(beef, of course). Speaking of beer, congratulations, Marv – we voted and you get to bring the beer for all the games – congratulations on your prestigious win! Season Tickets – Teresa collected checks for our season tickets. Most were made out to her, with the exception of one made out to Steve, which he promptly announced was going into his joint account with Amanda. Thank you, Teresa, for taking care of our ticket thing and Luv Muffin’ for not forgetting his adorable Amanda (no his ex’s are not all in Texas…). We suggested that if you are unable to attend a game, to check with your fellow Meatheads to see if you can possibly trade or sell your tickets within the group first, as someone is usually looking to bring unsuspecting victims - oops, I mean guests, although I think I heard something about branding them... Season Parking Pass – Normally we meet someplace downtown for a pre-game warm-up, car pool to The Slaughter House in The Meatmobile and park in the connecting ramp, using a season parking pass purchased from The Beef office. All of this is optional, of course. After discussion, it was agreed that Teresa would pick up 2 parking passes from The Beef office – they were $5 per game last year ($40 total). We are also in need of a Meatmobile II (or any other name desired) this year so if any of our new Meatheads wish to offer or take turns driving, that would work. Our old watering hole dried up over the off-season, so we will be checking for a new one downtown, with good feed and lotz of pasture so more to follow on this… Shirts – The Beef colors this year are black, platinum & white with an orange accent. Pictures of the new Beef uniforms were routed. Most of the shirts at the RumpRoasters’ tryouts were black with the new Beef logo and orange lettering. After a process of voting, compromise and elimination, we came to a consensus on our shirts. Hats – We didn’t get a chance to talk about these. Steve, Teresa, Jerry and I all have black hats with orange Meathead lettering on them. We are not set up to print hats ourselves, so if anyone else is interested in getting hats or checking into them for anyone else who would like a hat, please go ahead and do so. Website – Just a reminder, that if you didn’t turn in your personal web site bio info, please send or email to me within the next couple of weeks (otherwise I’ll just make it up). Same for your thoughts on – what is a Meathead? Even if you did turn something in, you can always give me more as you think of things. Any other suggestions for info to include on the website is also welcome - maybe we could have Allknight.com and Papa Beef expand on their conversation about – Any good Meathead being horizontal – sounds pretty interesting…was that related to the steer conversation? The Beef url is: http://www.beeffootball.com Our first game is Friday, March 7th at 7:05pm against New Orleans Bayou Bucks (according to the Jerky’s website). So we’ll have The Bucks against The Beef. The Jerky’s are also doing a poll for bus trips this year so you may want to participate in that, if you haven’t already. Hardware – I’ll make a trip to Nobbies to replenish our supply of orange pom poms and check on beads. Those of you with cow bells, can start tuning them up. Software – Teresa performed her cheer for our new members. We are always interested in new cheers as our repertoire is quite limited…. Maybe you can bring some good hang loose & suck ‘em up cheers back with you from Hawaii, Jim & Jo – enjoy your trip. And….you can think of us every time you see a Mooo Mooo over there…. If I goofed up on these notes too bad, let me know – remember I reserve the right to make anything up and you reserve the right to tell me to get lost. Problem is, I usually can’t remember what I made up and what I didn’t, and I’m usually lost most of the time anyway…. I’ve got more than one email address for some of you, so let me know if you don’t want me to send Meathead stuff to one of them or if you have a different email, you prefer I/we use instead to keep everyone up to date. Terry, I don’t have an email address for Pam, so please share with her, if you dare. The Meatheads are now currently accepting charitable donations for beer... When Meatheads Fly… O’Pat PARTY 'TILL the BEEF COME HOME!PROPRIETARY STATEMENT: It's Our Bull and we're stickin' to it.... |
